As a professional career counselor, for over twenty-years I have devoted my career to working with thousands of clients individually and consulting to many major corporations on career development, job search, career advancement and leadership strategies. I have also been a counselor educator preparing graduate students and seasoned counselors in career development to become world-class professionals and strengthen their career skills and knowledge. Over the years, I have developed practical strategies to help demystify a complex job search process. I have seen them work and have had many ask about what to do during this time of job stress. To be of service to counselors and individual clients, I am sharing my proven "how-to's" to help you master these career conversations in a focused and practical way. And remember, you can use these for yourself as well.

Create A Resume That Gets Noticed!
During today’s difficult times, it is even more critical to be prepared to jump back into the job market or put a best foot forward if already in. Learn current resume writing trends and the strategy behind how to write an effective resume from start to finish. Whether starting from scratch or updating an existing resume, work with Serena Santillanes, Professional Career Counselor, who has taught thousands how to effectively write a strong resume. Her proven and effective quick tips will help you critique resume content in 3-easy steps. Learn to write eye-catching skill-based sentences in a quick and teachable way. Identify and create the key parts of a solid resume which is the cornerstone of personal marketing. Also, learn the ins and outs of creating a resume for Applicant Tracking Software (ATS), the “scanning software” many companies and organizations use that trip up applicants of all ages! This session will help you productively and efficiently support those around you in today’s competitive marketplace. You can also use these same strategies to help yourself! Serena has been the President of the California Career Development Association, a keynote speaker for the San Diego Association for Psychological Type three separate times, a featured speaker at USC Women’s Conference, a keynote speaker for USC’s “Ignite Your Career” Encore Trojan Event, featured speaker at the College and University Association for Human Resources on “Creating an Institutional Fit: Strategies for Recruiting the Right Candidate,” a panelist at SHRM Inland Empire’s event on “Human Resources Trends” as well as featured speaker on interviewing strategies for hiring practices and how to have career conversations with your employees.

Serena holds a Master of Science in Counseling, Career Counseling from California State University, Northridge and a Baccalaureate degree in Mass Communications from the University of California at Berkeley.
