Founder of Career Journeys, Inc., Serena is a creator of innovative career development programs for several prominent universities and corporate teams.  She has also assisted hundreds of career transitioning adults in realizing their professional aspirations. An accomplished career specialist, Serena’s advice has been sought by news media including ABC and CBS for commentary on pressing topics such as the impact our tough economy has had on adults facing career transition.

As a career counselor, trainer and strategic program expert, Serena’s experience includes career program/product development and evaluation, leadership development and coaching, facilitation and presentation delivery, curriculum design, creation of online career programs, team building, assessment selection and interpretation, career theory, career resources, and individual career counseling strategies. A career consultant and practitioner for over a decade, Serena has taken part in evaluating and designing customized career and professional development programs for organizations like Southern California Edison and alumni career programs for Scripps College, USC, Caltech,  University of Miami, Trinity University and California State University Northridge.  In addition, she has evaluated leading university settings for their needs and services offered to students and alumni.


Serena has taught career planning at Santa Monica College, as well as student success and worked with hundreds of students in academic and career counseling at Santa Monica College’s Transfer Center.  She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at California State University, Northridge in the Educational Psychology and Counseling graduate program where she prepares future career, college and psychology professionals in honing their skills in career assessment, resources and theory. Additionally, she provides professional development services to community college counselors throughout the state. 


Serena has provided career and consulting services to such organizations as: Hulu, Disney, Edison International, Asplundh, BHP Billiton, NBCUniversal, Pechanga Resort and Casino, Mount St. Mary’s, University of Redlands, CalArts, Claremont School of Theology, Wisconsin Private Colleges Career Consortium, all of the Orange County Community Colleges, Dominican University, Career Transition for Dancers (SAG), and more. Serena has also delivered hundreds of MBTI® team sessions for a variety of intact workgroups, leadership development programs as well as individual clients and she has also created customized leadership training for corporations and universities. 


Serena holds a Master of Science in Counseling, Career Counseling from California State University, Northridge and a Baccalaureate degree in Mass Communications from the University of California at Berkeley. Serena is Past-President of the California Career Development Association and has been featured speaker for the San Diego Association for Psychological Type, a featured speaker at USC Women’s Conference, a keynote speaker for USC’s “Ignite Your Career” Encore Trojan Event, featured speaker at the College and University Association for Human Resources on “Creating an Institutional Fit: Strategies for Recruiting the Right Candidate,” and a panelist as well as featured speaker for the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). Serena is also a published author on the topic of Personal Branding and Leveraging Your Uniqueness for a text on Communication, Training and Development, Kendall Hunt Publishing.
